Hello from the Young Adult Friends community! We’re thinking of you and want you to know there’s a place for you here. Many of the folks you remember from Young Friends are here and we’re excited for you to join us when you’re able.
Great times to see us are at one of our retreats -- Midwinter starts the first Thursday of January and we sometimes have one each in the fall and spring-- or at Sessions. If you want to find out about them (and other awesome events happening in the community), you can sign up for the yaf-announce list: send an email to yaf-announce-join@yaf.neym.org.
A little bit about how YAFs are organized: our Ministry and Oversight Committee includes a Planning Committee that helps our fabulous coordinator, NiaDwynwen Koch (yf.yafcoord@neym.org), put together retreats, and a Nurturing Committee that helps respond to the spiritual and emotional needs of the community. Our Nominating Committee helps discover people’s gifts and put them to use. Serving on a committee is a great way to connect with YAFs.
Nurturing Committee can assist in organizing a clearness or support committee to help you through important decisions. They are also available to talk to you about anything you might be going through. Send an email to yaf-nurturing@googlegroups.com.
Another way you can get and give support is our prayer list. Go to http://groups.google.com/group/yafprayerlist/ to receive messages about the prayer list (or send an email to Nurturing Committee if you find that page confusing). Contact Nurturing Committee to sign up to be prayed for / held in the Light / sent good thoughts. It’s a way for us to stay connected and give support between seeing each other. You can give practical support to someone on the list or just send good thoughts their way/hold them in the light/pray for them.
We’d love for you to be involved however you can, but we understand that life can get busy, and even if we don’t get to see you for a while, we’re still thinking of you. There will always (until you’re 36 ;-) ) be a place for you here.
