Director of Young Adult Program
The Friends Committee on National Legislation, a Quaker Lobby in the
public interest, is seeking a dynamic organizer to become Director of the
Young Adult Program. The young adult program is a critical part of the
broader FCNL effort to rebuild democracy in the United States by working
with young people around the country to encourage lobbying and other forms
of engagement with elected officials in Washington. FCNL fields the
largest team of peace lobbyists working on Capitol Hill and in 64 years of
work we have develop tools and a methodology to influence policy debates
on issues such as the war in Iraq, disarmament, civil liberties issues,
the environment.
About FCNL- Millions of people in the United States feel disenfranchised.
Many would like to play an active role in our democracy but are not doing
so because they have become convinced that only people with money and
political power can influence decisions in Washington. FCNL is helping
rebuild the democratic system in this country by encouraging and enabling
everyones engagement with national elected officials.
Working with a long-term vision of the world we seek--established by
Quakers from around the country--FCNL identifies small, practical steps
that individuals and organizations from many different races, religions,
and cultures can take to persuade the federal government to advance social
and economic justice, peace, and good government. Tens of thousands of
people around the country rely on the focused, strategic choices made by
FCNL staff in Washington each week to help them effectively engage their
elected officials.
In the last few years FCNL staff have led efforts to eliminate funding for
new nuclear weapons, defined and led lobbying for legislation to bar the
U.S. from building permanent military bases in Iraq, and provided the
legislative intelligence that informed the campaign to respond to genocide
in Darfur. For more information on the full range of issues FCNL works on

Director of the Young Adult Program
The Director of the Young Adult Program has lead responsibility for
developing a program that engages more students and young adults in FCNLs
work. This includes developing strategies and campaigns to reach out to
young adult communities around the country to explain FCNLs mission,
legislative priorities, and change strategy. This work%
