Hey YAFs--

I just got a report from someone who helped organize Vassalboro's recent
Quarterly Meeting on Saturday.

Coming out of this year's NEYM sessions, they decided to really look at how
we approach sexuality as Friends. (They also spent a good chunk of time
learning about FUM and its work and the FUM personnel policy.)

I thought it would be important that YAFs realize that the minute we brought
forward in05 urging Yearly Meeting to consider our approach to sexuality
(individually and corporately) has really been taken very seriously-- by the
yearly meeting, and now we can see that at more local levels the questions
we raised are being discussed.

Go YAFs!

The small group queries:
To introduce the queries, I read from FYA:
"There is a hesitancy in our community to speak openly about any kind
of sexuality. This lack of dialogue keeps us from clarifying our views
on positive sexual relationships and hinders our ability to confront
real issues such as homophobia and hetero-sexism that continue to cause
great pain within our Monthly and Yearly meetings. "

The first query was: What defines a positive and spiritual sexual
relationship?
How do we deal with homophobia and hetero-sexism in our
community?

And the second was from the Minute of Commitment from sessions in
August:
Engage in conversation about the deepest meanings of family,
marriage
and committed relationships and explore what it means to have all of
these under the care of the Meeting.
